1. COVID-19: “Lockdown Extension Not A Political Decision” – Presidency
The Presidency has reacted to the extension of lockdown in Abuja, Ogun, Lagos and other states in the country.

In a statement issued on Saturday evening signed by his media aide, Garba Shehu, the president announced the extension of the lockdown in the affected states.

  However, speaking to AFP on Sunday, Shehu said the extension of the COVID-19 lockdown is not a political decision.

2. COVID-19: PDP Reacts To Lockdown Extension In Lagos, Others
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for extending the lockdown order currently in place in Lagos, Abuja and other states in the country.

POLITICS  NIGERIA reports that  the president extended lockdown in a statement issued on Saturday evening and signed his media aide, Garba Shehu. In a statement on Saturday by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP expressed support for the extension of the lockdown so as to curb the spread of the dreaded virus.

Ologbondiyan  however, called on the Federal Government to be transparent with the palliatives to the vulnerable in order to help Nigerians not feel the effect of the lockdown.

3. COVID-19: “Violate Lockdown, Harvest Corpses” – APC Governors Forum warns Nigerians

The leadership of the APC governors Forum has issued a warning to Nigerians about violating the lockdown order currently in effect all over the country.

DG of the forum also known as the Progressive Governors Forum(PGF) Salihu Lukman, warned that Nigeria could record worse casualties that America and Europe if Nigerians keep violating the lockdown.

4. Easter Celebration: Jonathan Preaches Hope Amidst Coronavirus
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians and the rest of the world to be hopeful of defeating the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In his Easter message to Nigerians on his verified Twitter handle, Jonathan asked Nigerians and the world not to despair during the season of hardship and fear associated with the pandemic.

5. CAN Accuses Kwara Governor Of Marginalising Christians, Lists 10 Reasons
The Kwara state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has accused the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of marginalizing Christians in the state.

In a statement signed by the state chairman, Rev. Paul Olawoore and State secretary, Rev. Reuben Ibitoye, the group criticized the governor over a technical ban placed on preaching and prayer in schools all over the state.

6. Nigeria Records Five New COVID-19 Cases As Tally Hits 323
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced that five new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Lagos, Kwara, and Kastina states.

In a tweet on Sunday via its Twitter handle, the health agency said the new cases bring the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 323.

The center said of the five new cases, two each were recorded in Lagos and Kwara while one was reported in Katsina.

7. Panic As Anambra Coronavirus Index Case Disappears
Information reaching POLITICS NIGERIA has revealed that Anambra state coronavirus index case has disappeared from the state isolation center.

 It was gathered that the patients made contact with many others before leaving the center.

Following  the development, Governor Willie Obiano has announced a total lockdown of the state with immediate effect.

According to the governor, the lockdown takes effect on Monday with the closure of all motor parks in the state.

8. Easter: “What Nigerians Must Do To Defeat Coronavirus” – IBB
Former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) has urged the Federal government to collaborate with the 35 states in the country to defeat coronavirus (COVID-19).

The former Nigerian leader made this known in a statement he personally signed on Sunday and made available to POLITICS NIGERIA.

According to the statement, Babangida said a strongcollaboration is what is needed to tackle the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

9. Buhari Reveals Approach Taken To Tackle COVID-19
President Muhammadu Buhari has said his administration is taking a two-step approach to curtail the outbreak of the disease in the country.

 In a tweet on Sunday on its Twitter handle, the Presidency said the Buhari government is taking the approach as a national response to COVID-19.

Buhari added that the approach is to secure the lives of Nigerians and cushion the effect of coronavirus on businesses in Nigeria.

10. Coronavirus: Several Nigerians Express Worry Over Buhari’s Extension Of Lockdown
As President Muhammadu Buhari extends the coronavirus lockdown in high-risk states, Nigerians have expressed concerns on the high cases of robbery looming.

After the expiration of the 14 days lockdown earlier announced, Mr Buhari on Saturday urged Nigerians to continue to comply with the stay-at-home directive.
