BREAKING] COVID-19: Arsenal Players Become 1st EPL Team To Agree 12.5% Pay Cut As Arteta Intervenes
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has intervened in the pay cut row between the board and the players, with Arsenal players agreeing a 12.5 per cent pay cut over the next one year.
This makes the Gunners the first club in the English Premiership League (EPL) to agree to a pay cut amid dwindling resources occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic which has put a halt to businesses and social life including football in Europe and other parts of the world.
The agreement was disclosed by Patrick Timmons, a freelance journalist with a bias for all things Arsenal, via his Twitter handle, @PatrickTimmons1, and the tweet read: “Following intervention from Mikel Arteta, the majority of the Arsenal squad have agreed to accept pay cuts of up to 12.5% over the next year – making them the first team in the Premier League to do so. My manager.”
